What this section covers

Surgery in a sensitive area, handled properly.

Genital complaints are among the most delayed problems in men's health. A tight foreskin, repeated infection, a bend that has become painful or a childhood repair that has not aged well are all treatable, yet men often wait years before raising them. The purpose of this section is to make that first conversation straightforward.

Every case begins with an examination and a clear explanation of what is anatomical, what is medical and what is purely aesthetic. Some men need nothing more than medication and reassurance. Others need a short day care operation. A few need a staged plan. You will be told which group you fall into, in plain language, before any date is discussed.

Because these operations sit at the meeting point of function and appearance, they are performed with plastic surgical technique, careful incision placement and attention to how the result will look once healing has settled.

Common questions

Genital surgery, answered.

Straight answers about the questions men ask most often before booking.

Ask a Question

No. It is a short day care procedure, usually completed under local anaesthesia in about thirty minutes. Most men go home the same day and return to seated work within two to three days. Swelling settles over roughly two weeks and the sutures used are self dissolving in almost every case.

Light walking is fine from the first evening. Office work is usually possible within two to four days, gym and heavy lifting after three to four weeks, and sexual activity after about four to six weeks. The exact timeline depends on the procedure performed and on how healing progresses.

Incisions are placed along natural creases or along the circumcision line so the mark blends with surrounding skin. Once healing settles over three to six months the line is usually faint. Skin type, tension across the wound and post operative care all influence the final appearance.

Most genital operations are done under local or regional anaesthesia, which avoids the risks of being fully unconscious. Blood counts, sugar levels and basic heart fitness are checked beforehand. An anaesthetist remains present throughout longer or combined operations.

Bleeding, infection, temporary swelling and altered sensation are the usual concerns, and all are uncommon when sterile technique and proper aftercare are followed. Rarely the wound line narrows or the result looks uneven, which can normally be corrected with a small revision.

Procedures done for a medical reason, such as a tight foreskin, repeated infection or a functional problem, are often reimbursed once paperwork is submitted. Purely aesthetic requests are generally self funded. The billing team can confirm eligibility before a date is fixed.
